As mentioned in a post last week, I’ve been very busy lately writing articles for a variety of publications. One of the articles was published last week and is the first newspaper article I’ve ever written. It’s a profile piece for the Dorchester Reporter about Dr. William Henderson, the principal at the full inclusion Patrick O’Hearn Elementary school on Dorchester Avenue.
In brief, the article is about Dr. Henderson and his work to integrate full inclusion, a program where disabled and non-disabled students learn together, into the O’Hearn school and ensure that every student at the O’Hearn receives a quality education. My personal opinion is he’s achieved a great success in his work and the people I interviewed agreed. As Dr. Henderson is retiring at the end of this school year it was a perfect time to profile him and his achievements.
If you have a few minutes and want to read about a great educational leader, check out O’Hearn’s ‘heart and soul’ prepares to move on at DotNews.com. If you enjoy the piece I would love it if you shared it on your favorite social networks. As always, any critiques are very welcome but please do so here. Any comments relevant to the content of the piece please post at DotNews.com but any feedback for me please keep on this blog.
I will definitely tweet this piece on twitter, especially since you don’t hear educators getting as much credit as they usually deserve.
hey Adam, nice work! really enjoyed reading your story. Henderson sounds like an amazing guy.
Nice work Adam. Keep writing. It’s a tough and thankless gig but someone’s got to do it. Keep fighting the good fight. Well done.
Thanks Emily and Whalehead King. I’m a big fan of both of your writing styles so very glad you enjoyed the piece.
And yes Emily, Dr. Henderson seems to be a great educator and person.
Thanks for sharing such an informative article. Will c u more for sure.
Congratulations for your published article for a newspaper. Job well done. I hope you get to write and be able to publish a productive/positive articles.
I think that is a major change in the school system. When I went to school it was always that the disabled students would be separated off into their own classes which would follow them throughout their entire school career, until the end of high school.
nice article… I hope, I can read this newspaper..
