Today is Labor Day but that doesn’t mean we all get a day off. The bloggers of the world don’t follow the “normal” work schedule and much more importantly, neither do firefighters. I was walking back to my house from the Dunkin Donuts at the start of the street and saw a fire truck down near the St. Margaret’s Church. There’s been a lot of construction there and on the street in general the last couple of months so I didn’t give it much thought, until I heard more sirens behind me.
As I turned around I saw another fire truck come rumbling down Roseclair, immediately followed another truck and an SUV. Moments later, the fourth and fifth truck showed up and within a minute the sixth and seventh truck arrived too. All of a sudden the whole street was lined with fire trucks, and as I stood on the corner of Roseclair and Greenhalge I saw yet one more truck making its way up the street!
This last truck was an ambulance and fire truck in one vehicle. Quite an impressive machine.
A few people were shocked at the sheer number of trucks but my thoughts are that I’d much, much rather see too many fire trucks than not enough!
Thank you to the brave men and women of the Boston Fire Department for doing such a great job. Our street has a few retired firefighters living here and we know that it is not easy work, especially on a warm day like today. Thank you again BFD, you all rock!
You can see more photos of the incident at my photos page.
Did you eat a donut for me?
My little brother is one of those ones that gets to work holidays. He wants to become a police officer, so he has been working as a security officer for the past few years at a hospital. The stories he tells…
Haha…when I was waiting in line I thought about buying a donut, had a strange craving for one but ended up walking out of there with just a plain bagel and medium regular coffee.
Yeah, I bet your brother sees a lot of crazy stuff at his job, I don’t think I could handle seeing all of that so props to your bro.
