Family Guy + The Shawshank Redemption = WIN

Last night, Boston sports was in full swing with the Bruins, Celtics and Red Sox all playing at the same time. It was worth it, as all three teams won, completing a Mother's Day Sweep. This concurrence of Boston sports made me miss Family Guy, and it turns out it was a great episode. But, thanks to Hulu, I got to watch it today. I've written before that I think The Shawshank Redemption is the greatest movie of all-time so last night's Family guy was extra special as they ran a parody of three Stephen King books, including The Shawshank Redemption.

I won't ruin any spoilers for you but rest assured it's a fantastic episode full of funny moments. Watch the episode, Three Kings, in full below via Hulu (full screen option becomes available after the initial commercial. The Shawshank Redemption parody comes in the third section of the show.

What did you think of this Family Guy episode? Will Stephen King sue them?

Video can’t be streamed from Turkey. I want to see this? What can I do?

Ah yes, one of the big downfalls of Hulu is that they only stream videos to people with IP addresses in the US. Luckily, IP addresses can be spoofed via proxy servers. I don’t want to post any links because I don’t want Hulu to come after me but if you google “Access Hulu.com From Anywhere” that site might be able to help you out. Let me know if it works!

I too love The Shawshank Redemption and that was one of the funnier things that I’ve seen in quite some time. Bravo Family Guy, Bravo.

As a die-hard Shawshank fan (probably seen it 50+ times), it was a great surprise for Family Guy to parody it. They didn’t even make fun of it too bad, perhaps Seth is a big Shawshank fan too.

It was hilarious. Too bad I had to search for it on other streaming sites (for some reason you can’t play Hulu outside of Us.

Family Guy doesn’t always do mean spoofs. It’s definitely a show aimed at Gen-Xers though wonder if that’s why it was off the air and came back?

All these stuck close to the King originals. Stand By Me w/ the actor updates at the end, adore Brian– so and evil Stewie are perfect for Misery, Shawshank was really well done too.

But I just got a review copy of Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy and thought it was awful. Not funny. Must be everything they didn’t use. It was too crude for me.

Personally, I wish they went with The Stand instead of Misery. I’ve actually never seen Misery but feel like I have from all the spoofs on it I’ve seen.

New season of Family Guy is awesome. I remember when I first got recommended it on gurgle I was a little non-plussed…but then I watched it a bit more and couldn’t stop! Thanks for the heads up!

The part where the guy fingers the guy on the poster was just priceless. One of the best episodes(parts of an episode) of family guy i’ve seen.
