Nothing wrong with the U of Miami FunAdvice! Loved it when my Tarheels beat them a few years ago when they were ranked in the top five, shortly after my BoSox won their first world series too...what a week!

:-)

Jesse, nope haven't gone to Vandy (yet?) but it's a quality school and I've had a few friends go there who very much enjoyed their stay.

Some really good schools there; I considered UNC for awhile but settled on UM in Florida. Good football and good academics =)

Strangely, I've never had a desire to attend Harvard. Perhaps it's from growing up in my working class neighborhood or perhaps it's from my perception that many students there get accepted based on who they are or where they come from (e.g. "upper-crusters") rather than on their smarts. I've actually considered going to school in Australia, sounds like a great time.

My wishlist of good schools are Harvard and Yale, although I heard getting there is tough and student population seem to come from the "upper-crust", Caltech and MIT for more of the tekkie stuff, Sydney University in Australia because I have a few friends there.

They did Andrew. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Latin_School#History" rel="nofollow">Wikipedia says it too</a> so it must be true!

To any non-BLS people reading this comment, Harvard was founded one year after BLS, so the school takes pride in claiming that Harvard was built so Latin graduates had a place to keep learning at.

;)

My big peeve about places like Harvard is that many people gain entrance there based on their wealth or celebrity status, or based on legacy. Even if I attended Harvard I'd rank BLS #1, mostly based on the student population at Latin being more representative of the total population.

I'd like to see a true Latin college, free for City of Boston residents, taught part-time by Latin teachers (perhaps one year at Latin School, one year at Latin College), 1-2 years of mandatory Latin courses (with exemption for anyone who already took Latin) and of course, the purple and white color scheme.

Right on April.

I think Latin needs to expand and create a college and grad school.

That is such a good list. If ever I'll rank mine-it would be Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila here in Phil where I got my degree and my MBA as well. Kudos to you for adoring your alma mater!
