Hey I am from Boston now living in Tampa. I understand your point but I say hey be who you are and don’t worry about what people think, I sometimes will hold back on things that I think may come across in a wrong way but I think there are subtle ways letting people know you are kidding or being sarcastic.

Agree with you Chicago that everyone is a bit too PC these days. I try to be myself as much as possible but at the same time try to keep in mind that anyone and everyone can see what I write online. In other words, I’m not quite as free flowing with my language here as I am in regular conversations with my friends but I think that probably applies to many of us.

True Jenny, I just wonder if I’m good enough at communicating that sarcasm to be able to use it well. Love your comment that: “It’s a harsh world. Buy a helmet.” I think that’s the real take away point. People are going to be offended by the lightest and harshest of things so just try to be yourself and don’t worry too much about how that affects others. Still, I feel there’s a nice medium between letting the words just flow and restricting yourself…

I don’t know. I’m a very sarcastic person and I think that if you’re good enough at communicating then it can come across even to the most dense of people.
Everyone has a different sense of humor and if you’re naturally sarcastic you can pick up on this.
And about being offended, who cares? It’s a harsh world. Buy a helmet.

I am from Chicago and I am known as a “sh*t-talker,” even though I am not actually trying to be offensive or condescending. I just like to say what I am thinking, no offense intended. And when dealing with online mediums, I put everything bluntly because people assume the emotion associated with the text even though you can’t read my mind or hear my tone. Be careful what you type and watch what you say I guess. I think everyone is too P.C. and sensitive. Regards!

I hear ya Jim. Amongst friends many of us call each other by insulting words but when we’re amongst friends they know it’s know genuine and just a form of giving each other a hard time.

It sure is m ramos. Even this post already ticked someone off, as I saw that one of my readers in North Carolina already unsubscribed! Right after publishing this post I wondered if that would happen and there it is. Alas, we can’t please everyone.

Still it’s a good reminder to keep in mind all my readers when writing posts, not just the majority of them.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I am in Costa Rica and their are a lot of tourists here. But I am from the east coast (RI really but spent a lot of time in MA) and I have the same trouble.

I may just call you a bitch, but in my way. My friend’s know it’s a joke, but not here.

+ I think you should know this… I am a Celtics fan, but you and I will be fighting when it comes to baseball
